Pumpkin Carving 2009

I can't really remember carving pumpkins while I was growing up. I can remember drawing a face on one or two but not really carving. Now that I have children I understand! It is seriously messy. And really, since my children are too young for using anything sharp it is Heath and I carving the pumpkins. We had a few rough moments but we persevered and here are our finished products. Sydney and Logan picked out the templates of Mickey Mouse and Blue from Blues Clues.

Overall, we had a fun night and after I mopped the floor and Heath took out the trash we were back to life as usual. I guess that we will keep doing it since Logan shrieked with joy over seeing Mickey lit up on his pumpkin.

Meeting New Cousins

My sister had identical twin boys the beginning of September. Shortly after coming home from the hospital one of them got sick and had to go back into the hospital for a little while. We went up and stayed for a few days to help out with the other twin and my sisters other children. Here is a picture of Noah and his cousin, Clarke. Look how much bigger Noah looks. He is only three and a half weeks older but he looks like a giant.

Check out that grin. Too cute!

Mill Mountain Zoo

We needed a little family break and decided to spend an afternoon at Mill Mountain Zoo. Even though it was a really small zoo the children had lots of fun. It was just about the right size for them. They didn't get overloaded and really enjoyed the freedom of walking around on their own. Logan was so funny. Every time he saw an animal he would shriek with excitement. We laughed and laughed at him all afternoon.
Logan and Sydney in the aviary.
This colorful guy is what they were after.
Sydney on the little train ride. What a silly girl.
Wild ride!
Before we went in the zoo we ate a picnic lunch just outside the gates. They had a nice picnic area with a fun playground and some great views.
Here is what Noah was up to during lunch:
