New Layout

So I decided to change the look of our blog, but in the process of making the change I seem to have lost some of the content. Needless to say Emily isn't very happy with me... whoops. Well I hope everyone likes the new look. All is well right now with the Charter family!

Getting Big!!!!

Look how big he is getting!

Week in Charlotte

Heath had to spend a few days in Charlotte, NC at a training class for work last week so we decided to tag along. It was what we like to call the "poor man's vacation." We were a little worried about how the children would do with all of us sleeping in the same room, but everyone did surprisingly well. We ended up having a great time! (Ok, so Emily and the kids probably enjoyed themselves a bit more than Heath who had to work the whole time, but at least he wasn't bored at night.) I tried hard to keep Sydney occupied during the days. Here we are at one of the malls in Charlotte. It had a really big play area for the kids and Sydney had so much fun that we even went back one evening after dinner.

This is what Sydney was busy doing...

This is what Logan was busy doing...

I also took the kids to a children's museum there called, The Discovery Place. Sydney really enjoyed herself and Logan was great. He just hung out in his stroller most of the time. Syd liked the toddler room a ton! It had lots and lots of things to do, but she definitely liked the water table the best. She must have spent a solid hour filling up this cup and dumping it out.

Here are some other pics from the museum.

And here are a few random pictures at the hotel.

We were able to visit with our friends the Marker's who live in Charlotte. I also made a day trip up to Winston-Salem, NC to visit with my friend Katie Rees. We had lots of fun until Sydney got sick from too much spinning in an office chair and threw up everywhere. She recovered quickly and all in all it was a good day.

Charlotte was lots of fun, but it was also nice to get back home!

ACCIDENT

Yesterday we took the kids to a trendy little toyshop in Blacksburg where you can test out most of the toys before you buy them. It was really fun and we learned that Sydney really likes to play with toy tools, especially the hammer. Well, the parking lot for this toy store is really tiny and it is on a steep hill. We loaded up the children and were waiting at the bottom of the parking lot to pull out on the road when....BANG!!!!!. Yep, a lady, driving a big truck backed right into us. She never saw us so she actually hit us pretty hard, but we were all fine. In fact, Logan never even woke up. So now we have a claim and a damaged car. Here is a picture of it in case anyone is interested.

Oh yeah, and guess who smiles now....how cute is he? I know, really really cute!

A Few Extra Days

Grandma Charter was supposed to fly back to SLC on Monday night but we got to keep her a few extra days. Sunday night she had a kidney attack and we had to take her to the Emergency Room on Monday. A few kidney stones, one kidney infection, and 6+ hours later she was starting to feel a little better. However, since her flight was that night a few hours drive from where we lived we got to keep her until Wednesday. While we were sad she was feeling so terrible we were secretly a little happy because we got to keep her!

Tuesday afternoon it was unseasonably warm and Grandma Charter was feeling a little better so we decided to head out to Bissett Park for some fun. We took along a lunch and Sydney played on the playground while Logan slept. It was lots of fun, especially watching Sydney run around. She keeps asking to go to the park again.

Grandma Charter Came To Visit

Grandma Charter came out to visit us this past week. She was able to meet Logan for the first time and see first hand what a cutie he is. We had a nice time visiting and were able to show her a few places around town. We took her to Radford so she could see where Heath goes to school. We also went to VA Tech one afternoon to see the April 16th Memorial and show her the neat architecture on that campus. She was able to be with us for Logan's blessing which made the day that much more special.

Grandma Charter came bearing gifts for Sydney and Logan. She brought Sydney these really cute PJ's with a robe (Sydney REALLY liked the robe!), and an awesome rag quilt that she made. She made a really nice blanket for Logan and she also made hats for both kids.
THANKS GRANDMA CHARTER!!!!

Logan's Blessing

We got Logan blessed this past Sunday, Jan. 6th. Heath did a great job and Logan didn't make a peep. Here are the pictures from his big day.

Thanks to everyone who made a special trip out here to be with us for his blessing.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS! (A Little Late)

We spent Christmas at Grammy and Pa's house this year. We had lots of fun with our family and even managed to get away for an evening on our anniversary. Santa came to visit Sydney there and she really seemed to enjoy her gifts. She got a set of play jewlry and she wore it all morning. The clip-on earrings were my favorite. Logan got some toys and clothes too, but of course he wasn't too interested.

We also got a cute shot of Logan and Sydney with all of their cousins on the Quick side.

Santa Claus Is Coming To Town

Last night we took Sydney and Logan to meet Santa Claus. Sydney was really excited. We made the mistake of telling her that we were going to see Santa before we got in the car. She refused to finish dinner and kept asking to go "bye-bye." We thought that she might be scared, but she sat in his lap and let us take a few pictures. Logan woke up for the pictures.

The kids also had check-ups today at the doctors. Logan weighed in at 9lbs 6oz, which is in the fiftieth percentage for babies his age. Sydney weighed in at 23 lbs, which is only the tenth percentage. This pic of Logan was after we got home. How do you think he likes his car seat?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SYDNEY!!!!

Sydney is officially 2 years old today! I can't believe how big she is. We decided to celebrate today just the four of us since we had a little party for her on Saturday at Grammy's. I was making her a chocolate cake (her request was for chocolate) and she really wanted to help "cook" her cake too. If you ask her how old she is she will hold her hand out and say "two," or "eight," or whatever number comes to her mind. It is really cute!

Here she is licking the beaters to her cake. When I was putting stuff away she dipped them in to the cake pans that hadn't quite made it to the oven yet. She knows what is good!
